The 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England were a significant event for Paralympic athletes and the sport of cycling. One athlete who competed in the Men’s individual sprint B event was Barney Storey.

Storey, a former Royal Engineer, had lost his left arm while serving in Afghanistan and turned to cycling as a way to stay active and continue pursuing his passion for the sport. He eventually became a world champion and multiple gold medalist in the Paralympic Games.
